Michelle Wie got off to a good start in the 2011 LPGA season opener, finishing second to Yani Tseng at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Wie began the final round one stroke behind Tseng, and ended it five strokes behind. But that's only because Tseng was so good in Round 4, shooting 66 - the best round of the day. Fewer than a half-dozen players broke 70 the last day, and Wie shot a very solid 70 to take down second place.
For the week, Wie posted scores of 69-68-71-70 for a 10-under-par total of 278. She was the only golfer other than Tseng to finish double-digits under par.
Wie plays again this week at the HSBC Champions in Singapore. It's possible that Thailand was a preview of things to come on the LPGA Tour this year: A running battle between Tseng and Wie? That would be great to see.
