Not the best of showings for Michelle Wie at the 2011 HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore: She finished tied for 40th in a field of 63. That's a disappointing showing following her second-place in the season opener.
Wie was solid in her first two rounds, shooting 73-71 which was good for just outside the Top 10 and within shouting distance of the lead.
Then came a third-round 77 that took her out of the equation, and that was followed with a final-round 75. Her 296 total was 8-over par.
Alas, no stats (fairways hit, putts, etc.) are available for this event on LPGA.com, so we can't get a good sense of what went wrong.

Midway Report: HSBC Champions
After the second round of the 2011 HSBC Champions in Singapore, Michelle Wie was tied for 12th at even-par 144. Her scores were 71 and 71. That's 10 strokes behind the leader, Chie Arimura, but only three golfers are below 140 so Wie is right among the chase pack.

Good Start to 2011 Season for Wie

Michelle Wie got off to a good start in the 2011 LPGA season opener, finishing second to Yani Tseng at the Honda LPGA Thailand. Wie began the final round one stroke behind Tseng, and ended it five strokes behind. But that's only because Tseng was so good in Round 4, shooting 66 - the best round of the day. Fewer than a half-dozen players broke 70 the last day, and Wie shot a very solid 70 to take down second place.
For the week, Wie posted scores of 69-68-71-70 for a 10-under-par total of 278. She was the only golfer other than Tseng to finish double-digits under par.
Wie plays again this week at the HSBC Champions in Singapore. It's possible that Thailand was a preview of things to come on the LPGA Tour this year: A running battle between Tseng and Wie? That would be great to see.
